I think I had the same problem as you for a long time, but just today I
found the help. I was as hopeless as you, messenger or hotmail didn´t open by
internet explorer...
I have the same system as you and did get that same error message. I wrote
the numbers in the search area and there was my help. Somebody had had this
problem too and there was "somebodys" advice how to solve the problem. And
now everythings allright (i hope ;-) I updated my xp and now world is open
again!! I am happy!
So try the same thing as me...
