Unable to install latest KB905474

Tried installing latest KB905474.
Error - Error Code: 0x80242006.

Verified that I have a Genuine / legal / aboveboard copy of Windows.

What gives ???

I would like to know what prevented installing the "normal" way.

Why? Who knows, it happened also to me. MS are aware of the problem.

Possibly because you have a dial-up or DSL internet connection. The problem
doesn't seem to happen with cable or permanent-on connections. The manually
downloaded version is a later version than the one offered by Windows
Update, and it fixes whatever the problem was.

Had same problem via DSL. The fix worked in that the update no longer
appears in the list of needed updates, but the "Update History" doesn't show
that KB905474 was installed today - only that it failed to install 3 times
the regular way.

I had the same problems via DSL with the same results that the update no
longer appears in the list of needed updates,but the update history doesn'y
show that the update was installed,and it doesn't pop up as an update that
needs to be installed. The question remains-did the update install?

Re-posting - the first one comes up blank...

Same problem installing KB905474 via DSL and the fix also seems to work (the
update no longer appears as needing to be installed). However, no record of
the manual installation appears in "Update History" or in "Add-Remove
Programs" with updates displayed.
