Unable to install MS .NET Framework Service Pack 3, Japanese Versi

I have repeatedly attempted to install the above MS Security Update (which is
"Framework 1.0", by the way) but the process fails every time. After a
(successful) download I receive the message: "Application has generated an
exception that could not be handled. Process id=0xfff281eb (-884245). Thread
id=0xfff381fff(-88689)." I then get the option to "debug the application,"
which I select. This is followed by: "Registered JIT debugger is not
available. An attempt to launch a JIT debugger with the following command
resulted in an error code of 0x0(0). Please check computer settings.
Cordbg.exe !a 9xfff281eb." I have no idea what this means, but the install
process begins anyway. This takes a very long time (hours), but eventually
all the "blocks" are filled--but the install fails. I have searched the MSKB
without finding anything corresponding to my problem, and I have been unable
to get help directly from MS.

ciscodoc, I got the same error messages upon trying to open Media Center
after installing Update for Media Center Edition KB900325. Have you, in the
meantime, learned more? I am facing a Windows reinstallation if MS or some
of the Newsgroup users cannot help.
