Unable to install .net framework 1.1

I am trying to install .Net Framework 1.1 on Windows Vista
Gave the following error:An application has generated an exception that
could not be handled.
Process id=0x11ec(4588), Thread id=0x16a8(5800).
Click OK to terminate the application. Click cancel to debug the
application.

Hello Navneet Kumar:
You don't need to install net framework 1.1 on Vista. Vista comes with
net framework as part of the operating system installation. After
installation I think there is an update to net framework that installs
automatically when you update the pc.
