Unable to install Service Pack 3

I have XP Home with SP2. I am unable to install SP3 either by downloading or
using a CD. I get error msg "Access Denied" when about 1/2 through the
install process. I have disabled Norton Anti-Virus but still unable to
install SP3.

Is there a fix for this?

First, make sure that your anti virus software isn't locking the registry and
preventing the installer from modifying the same.

Error message when you try to install Windows XP Service Pack 3: "Access is
denied" or “Service Pack installation did not complete�
