Unable to install several updates from Windows Update Website

I am having a lot of trouble getting several updates to install from the
Windows update website. I am not getting any error messages on the screen.
In the Windows Update log file I am getting an Error 0x80070643:Fatal Error
during installation. I am running Windows 2000 Professional SP4. I have
tried the updates in Safe Mode. I have tried the updates with Anti-virus
disabled. I have tried downloading and installing locally. I have tried
installing as the local Administrator. I have tried everything I can think
of. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Do you have a firewall ?? If so, try disabling it, too.

Actually I think I may have stumbled upon something. I updated Office 2000
and it now seems to be working. Not sure why that had anything to do with it
but evidently it did. Thanks for the response though.
