Unable to install update KB887822

I have been using Windows xp for a while now, and have never experienced any
problems with the automat update. Lately, my computer tried to install
"critical update KB887822", and didn't succeed. I get a window telling me
that the update was not successfully installed. Also, the Windows Media
Player tried to update itself to version 10 (I currently have version 9), but
didn't succeed either, due to some Windows Logo something problems.

What Should I do?
