unable to install windows update

Have tried to install the new widows update and get a Error number: 0x80070020
What should I do?

Same here.
Ive worked for days with this.
I have reinstalled all .net packages.

It tries to tell us that we have a virus realtime scanner active.
I am now going to uninstall my AVG, but I think its redicolous as I have my
fw off and also the resident shield.

My god what a rats nest this is....

Now I deinstalled the AVG system. No help.
Took down Windows Firewall. No help.
Stpped all processes I can stop in the process manager. No help.

Is this a joke????

Where's the answers from Microsoft?
I concider myself having a nonsupported, not updated Microsoft product right
now.
Untill I get some positive development out of this I will not post here
anymore.

The web dialog box keeps coming up and doing nothing, when I try to update.
I come back to the pc 3 hrs later and it is still just sitting there! Of
course, this pc has been sitting up for more than a year, and now I cant get
the updates to install. ~And I had always kept it up to date~ NOW cant get
the updates it needs, and Microsoft is no longer giving new updates! I guess
its time to buy another!! Good luck to all you!

If anyone out there has Spybot Search & Destroy and while trying to run
Windows update you receive the error number 0x80070020 and this message:

"Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the
requested page".

I corrected the problem in my computer. It was the "Tea Timer" in Spybot S&D.

Bring up Spybot S&D and click on mode.....then select advanced mode....click
yes in the pop up box.

Then click tools at lower left....then click resident.....then uncheck the
Resident "Tea Timer" box.

X out and that should do it and hopefully most will be able to get the
Windows updates.

You can go back after updating and put "Tea Timer" back on by following the
above steps. You may have to do the same thing next time you update unless
Spybot S&D fixes the glitch in the meantime.

PS - "Tea Timer" ( if you have Spybot S&D) is an overall protection of
settings on your computer.

Which Browser do you have? Download and install IE 7.0 and go to downloads
again.

IE 6. I never bothered with IE 7......I knew friends that had problems with it.
