I have just purchased a new laptop with Vista installed and I am getting the
following error towards the end of a WLM install :

Microsoft.VC80.CRT, Version="8.0.50727.163", Type="Win32",
publickeytoken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b, processor architecture="x86"

I have tried to install 8, 8.1 and 8.5....any ideas??

It refers to the same error in a different context... looks like you may
have some version of code files that are incompatible with the ones
requesting them.

Ok, now I see the download you were referencing, but my next question is why
should I need to do this? Is this a common problem?

It's new to me, and if I were you I would try it out once you have
understood the implications and know how to roll any undesirable effects
back (e.g. set a restore point). I don't think it is common. Did you install
any new software just prior to this problem occurring excluding WLM? If not
it may have something to do with the way the supplier of the machine set it
up with Vista and any additional programs they added (remember they should
be giving you support for this too, but that may be asking for more trouble
than it's worth)...

Yeah, that's what i figured so I started here. Sad that a brand new machine
will not handle some pretty basic stuff. I'll give the download you
referenced a try and cross my fingers. thanks

Greetings,

Is that the entire error message you're seeing? There really should be more than just that
one line being displayed. If so, can you type it out please?

I unfortunately won't have access to that machine to get the exact error
message again for a couple of days, but it was Error 1603 and then the
detailed message I indicated previously.

Microsoft.VC80.CRT, Version="8.0.50727.163", Type="Win32",
publickeytoken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b, processor architecture="x86"
