It's new to me, and if I were you I would try it out once you have
understood the implications and know how to roll any undesirable effects
back (e.g. set a restore point). I don't think it is common. Did you install
any new software just prior to this problem occurring excluding WLM? If not
it may have something to do with the way the supplier of the machine set it
up with Vista and any additional programs they added (remember they should
be giving you support for this too, but that may be asking for more trouble
than it's worth)...
