Try the following:-

Click Start, select run and type the following (pressing okay after each one):-

net.exe stop wuauserv

regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 MSXML3.dll

net.exe start wuauserv

Try WU again.

I have finally found the solution to my (OUR) problem!

I changed;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Win dowsFirewall\StandardProfile
"EnableFirewall" changed value to 0 instead of 1 and my updates installed
with out any issues.

Sorry, but that's not a common solution, since the policy isn't set
by default. It may have been your Personal Firewall software you're
running and/or a group policy set by the admin (you?).

I've tried this, to no avail. I'm still unable to install Windows Updates.
I've even tried repartitioning and re-installing XPSP2. Any other potential
fixes?

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from
Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a
Windows XP installation

If the updates still will not install, use Method 2.
