when I burn a cd I am unable to listen to it on any portable players, I can
listen to it in my car cd player, but it takes minutes to "read" before
starting to play. also, when it does start they are in folders, unlike my
other cd's. I am using the same music and cd's that have previously worked.
any help , thanks....

Hi,

Could it be that you burned a data CD and previously you had burned audio
CD's (CD's that you by in a shop prerecorded with music are usually audio
CD's). Not all CD players will play data CD's. That could also explain why
the tracks are in folders.

Hope that helps.

I have the same problem. None of the cd's I burn on my wmp on my laptop with
vista work on other players. I haven't been able to figure out what version
of wmp i have. (On the windows site it says to click the help menu and then
'about windows media player' WHAT HELP MENU!! On my desktop computer with XP
when I burn a cd with wmp (using the same kind of blank cd) it works fine on
all other players. I can't understand this.

Have you seen Cloud's reply in this thread? It's likely that WMP is set
to burn data CDs instead of audio CDs (most basic standalone CD players
can only read audio CDs).

In WMP, click the little arrow right below the Burn button at the top,
and make sure Audio CD is ticked.

BTW, to show the Help menu, press Ctrl+M.

Regards
