Hi All,
I have been excited since Live Messenger come in beta. But no luck, until
now I still can't login using the latest Live Messenger (Release 8.0.0787.0).
I can login perfectly using MSN Messenger version >= 7.5. Once I try Live
Messenger, it seems try to login forever (the green and blue people just keep
rotating forever) without any status.

In Live Messenger, I have checked in the Tools > Options > Connections,
there's no error msg at all, "You are currently connected to .NET Messenger
Service using your default browser HTTP ...", "You are connected to the
Internet through a wireless network connection". Once I click Connection
Troubleshooter, everything seem ok from IP, Default Gateway, ..., Key Ports
until Wireless. In the Advance Setting, I test HTTP and it's success, but I
fail to test using TCP, there's a message (we're unable to connect
(8007274c)). I think Live Messenger can connect through HTTP only, right?

I check in the Help > Service Status, in browser there's message: "All
systems are stable and running." I even check my Windows Live Account, for
Windows Live Messenger service, it reported no problem.

I also try to check at Windows Firewall, Live Messenger has been in
Exception List.

Anyone can help?

Vincent

Its probably blocked in ICS (Internet Connection Firewall), go into ICS and
see what the rule for WIndows Live Messenger is and set it to allow.

Or,

Go into your command prompt and when Live Messenger is connecting (logging
in) type:

netstat -a

And tell me what the result is.

Hi,

ICS blocks incoming connections only, Messenger is making outgoing connections -- it does not
matter if Messenger is blocked by ICS or not.

Hi,
At last I can login to live messenger, thank you for Jonathan Kay, I solve
it for your message at another thread to ask me to check at
%userprofile%\contacts. I don't know why how come this folder is not
authorized to me. Hehe.. Thank a lot.

For others that have same problem with me, please check security to this
folder, just type %userprofile%\contacts at start > run.
