Unable to open images from Vista Desktop

Vista 32 home edition.

I'm not sure when this has changed, maybe thru a recent windows update, but
I can no longer open images in the windows photo gallery from my desktop.
They will, however, open in PS and other graphic programs, but not in the
windows gallery. Is this the norm now or did I miss a setting somewhere?

Thanks for any input on this issue.

Mike

You said they are not opening from the Desktop, do you mean they are not
opening the in Default Program you desire?

To change this, click Start > Default Programs > click 'Set Default Program'
> from the Programs list > select 'Windows Photo Gallery' > click 'Set this

program as default' > you can default settings if you wish by clicking
'choose defaults for this prgram' and check specific formats you would like
to see open directly in Windows Photo Gallery.

No, I can not get them to open in the windows gallery, even though I set the
windows gallery as the default program of choice.

If I set the windows gallery as the default program of choice and then
double click the image (.jpg) nothing happens. If I right click and select
open in windows photo gallery, nothing happens.

However, if I have the images in a folder on my desktop, then all works as
expected.

hi,

I seem to be having this same problem, did you get this resolved yet? I just
can't seem to figure out if this has something to do with video/display
drivers or another program such as iTunes/Quicktime... the strange thing is
that the open/preview function in the original Windows Photo Gallery in Vists
still runs fine (even running side-by-side with Windows Live Photo Gallery).
This is al very annoying, I really like WLPG, but this bug renders it pretty
useless :-(

Andre,

Sorry about being late getting back to you (been out of town) but your last
suggestion did the trick (booting into my Windows Vista DVD).

Thanks for your help.

Yes, Andre's suggestion (see my previous post) did the trick. I forgot to
mention this, but for what ever reason, I only did the repair once but the
fix took place after my second re-boot. So after you do the repair re-boot
twice if you still have the same problem after the first re-boot.

Good luck,

Mike
