Hi,
Until last week I've not had any problem with Vista. Suddenly I can't open
or save attachments on emails from Windows Email. Also, I can't download
files from IE. It says it is doing it, but the file does not show up. I've
followed all the threads and tried:-
Turning Windows Defender off and on
Turning UAC off and on
unloading all antivirus security programs
uninstalling last two windows updates (before problem showed up.)

So now I can't down load Windows live mail to see if that will fix the
problem.
Please help, thanks, perry

Go to Tools > Options > click the "Security" tab. Check to see that the box
next to "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could
potentially be a virus" is Unchecked.

Try resetting IE. In IE: Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Reset.

When downloading a file with IE, it normally tells you the location of
where the file is being saved on your hard drive.

Hi,
I've tried rerunning the Norton removal Tool again and this seems to have
worked. I've now been able to download email attachments and have downloaded
and converted to Windows Live Mail and am now downloading AVG 8.0. I'll make
sure that I heed the advice regarding no email scanning and let you know how
it goes. regards, Perry

Good to hear you got rid of that pernicious Norton.
