Hi Rosalie

I have seen this being due to Hard disk space before,

Have you tried the following:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/171464

You should also clear your temporary internet files from Internet Explorer
and delete all temp files in your profile.

Thanks, Kris.
Although my hard drive is 90% free, I did as suggested, but it didn't
resolve the problem Also, used the link you kindly provided, but it was
for Outlook Express & I run Windows Mail (it referred to not enough hard
disk space, which unfortunately is not the problem).

Appreciate your feedback.

Rosalie

Hi Rosalie,

If this is not the case, you have a few options yet,

Have you tried going to Tools > Options > Advanced > Maintenance

and try a clean up on your database files, if this fails you could also
enable the logging checkboxes in the bottom of this screen and then read
from the log file a more direct error?

This problem is quite common from what I'm seeing.
Internet explorer won't let someone download or save attachments i
e-mail.
The only solution I've seen is to delete temp files etc includin
memory of sites visited and passwords - which is a pain every time tha
has to be done.
THere has to be a more permanent solution.
One of you geniuses who know infinitely more than us laymen has to hav
a better solution.
I have seen hints that it has to do with memory - but I have 34G
available on my C drive.
So I don't think that's the problem.
It's probably something to do with IE8 and Vista (or perhaps al
Microsoft systems).
Help!!!

Internet Explorer has nothing to do with Windows Mail.

When in Windows Mail select "tools" then "options." There's a security
setting that, by default, won't allow you to download attachments and
pictures.

Your hard drive has nothing to do with memory. It's storage.

There's a foolish statement, if I ever saw one.

Thanks for nothing Michael.
Instead of spending your time critiquing a laymens misunderstanding pof
how things work, it would be more productive for all if you could offer
up a more permanent solution than clearing temp files and password
files, which is a temporary solution.

Does anyone have a permanent solution to this problem?
I have not been able to find one searching.
Thanks,

I believe *you* are the one who offered the solution of clearing out
temporary files & passwords in your OP (which you didn't quote in your
reply).

In his reply, which you also didn't quote, Michael suggested that you
do this:
"When in Windows Mail select 'tools' then 'options.' There's a
security setting that, by default, won't allow you to download
attachments and pictures".

That looks to me like a permanent solution.

Foof.

Thanks Gene,
But that was not the problem.

Here's the solution to "Internet Explorer cannot download..."

Go into "Tools" on Internet Explorer
Then click "Manage Add-ons"
I'm not sure which add-on needs to be enabled, but enable them one at
time until your files download.
I added Java and Shockwave add ons and then was able to download.

I found this as a possible solution in another thread.
Thanks for nothing Michael and as for you Gene, you didn't even know o
research whether Michaels "solution" worked; it only seemed you were CY
for Michael.
Too my solution will probably not be seen/found by those searching o
Google

I have no interest in whether that was the problem or whether his
solution was correct - my interest was in your attitude, as betrayed by
your first reply (and now this one). I merely pointed out that you
called Michael out for not being helpful, when (a) he was trying to be
helpful, as evidenced by his giving you a possible solution (as well as
some pointers about software & hardware oganization), and (b) you
suppressed quoting his message, apparently so as to give yourself an
excuse to get nasty to him.

As for CYA for Michael - how can I "cover my ass for Michael"? That
utterly fails to make any sense. I've even had my own fights with
Michael (he & I managed to survived that OK, since we both understand
sarcasm).
