Unable to play AVI video with no sound

Thanks for your time,
I have to play an AVI video (it contains instructions) which has been
recorded with no sound.
I get an error message, does somebody have a trick or workaround?

What version of WMP and Windows?

What's the exact text of the error message? If it has a Web Help-button,
click it. What URL does it take you to? You might find some helpful
instructions there.
