Hello,

I've re-imaged my computer and now I'm unable to play the protected files.
I've tried deleting the DRM file but it doesn't appear that I did that
correct. I've also unistalled and did a rollback to Windows Media Player 9
and did my upgrade to Windows Media Player 11.

I'm running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2. I also tried to follow
directions where the help topic explained there might be an audio issue, or
tag issue none of those options worked for me.

Please assist.

Thanks,

Hi Neil,

Thank you for your help. For some reason I'm not able to use the link you've
sent me to upgrade. The upgrade button is disabled. Is there something else I
could do?

It maybe your security settings, your firewall, or you are using a browser
other than IE.
If you are using FF or Opera or any other browser, do as Neil instructed -
Open IE, and paste the link directly into IE address line.
You should get a security alert that the MS site wants to install an activeX
You should click to allow the activeX, then the "Upgrade" button will be
functional - click it.

If you are using IE, but don't get the activeX pop-up alert:
Click the "Tools" drop down menu in IE
Select "Internet Options">"Security tab"
Drag slider to "Medium-high"
Click "Apply" followed by "OK"
Close all windows, reopen IE and try again.

Still not getting option to install activeX, then again click:
"Tools" then "Pop-up Blocker settings"
You can paste the link into the dialog for "Address of website to allow"
but all you need to do is set Blocking level to:
"Low: Allow pop-ups from secure sites"
Close all windows, reopen IE and try again.

Remember, use IE to access the site, not FF or any other browser.
You must allow the activeX to be installed.

Hi Neil,

That fix you provided did work I had to find the hidden DRM file and delete.
I'm running into another problem though. When I play the protected files it
prompts me to download a license to play the music. Once I click to download
the license it states something relating to I've played the file over 10
times. I checked in my setting and I have Copy Protected Music unchecked. Is
there a way I can still get the music to play?
