Unable to read zipped up xlsx files

I was supposed to recieve a zipped xlsx file from a friend,but when i
recieved it , i noticed that it was all broken up into xml files and i
am open to read it as an excel file .i have installe the file converters
for office and even tried different versions of winzip but when i ask
my friend to send the files to me and to another friend i was unable
to open but the other was able to .Please help
