Unable to resume after hibernation since SP1

The PC is a Sony VAIO VGN-NR160E laptop running Windows Home Premium (factory
installed) with 4 GB ram. Prior to SP1 it had no issues with hibernation. I
just installed SP1 and now it will not resume from hibernation. When I press
the power button or click the power button, the computer begins to write out
to disk like it has always done. It then gracefully powers off. When I turn
it back on, instead of resuming from hibernation, I see a text message
appears upon start indicating windows failed to shut down properly. I am
given options to start windows normally, in safe mode, command prompt, etc.

Any ideas? I thought I'd try to find a solution before going through the
hassles of rolling back SP1.

The hybrid sleep feature and the hibernation feature in Windows Vista may
become unavailable after you use the Disk Cleanup Tool :

David,

There are a couple of things that I would recommend. We have an
excellent tutorial on sleep/power settings related issues. Take a look
and see if there's something there that might help you:

Also, you mentioned this started happening after installing SP1. I'd
also have the guru's at Microsoft try to assist you as well. They are
offering free tech support for SP1 related issues. You can find them
here:

I hope this helps.
