I am trying to download and run iTunes on the a Vista machine but it won't
run the program.

I tried to Run iTunes from the apple web site but after downloading the file
it says program is blocked because the publisher is unknown.
I then Saved the download to the C: drive and tried running from there but
also got an error saying iTunes stopped.

I have tried other programs such as Skype with the same result. Is this
caused by a setting in Vista. I was logged into the vista PC with
administrator rights.

Thanks for any help

Try right clicking the file you downloaded and
select
Run as Administrator

If that does not work still.

Try right clicking the install file and
select properties and then click on the
compatibility tab.
Check the
Run this program in compatibility mode and
choose WinXP.

Hope one of these helps ya.

Its a vista setting on your pc, iTunes installs fine on Vista, no
compatibility work around required

I like to put the clickable things or such on a single lines.
Nothing wrong with the formatting, only things wrong with me.

Hi James,

thanks for the reply but that didn't help. I tried both suggestions but I
still "iTunes Program has stopped" and then the usual send an error message.

Any other ideas?

Did you by any chance play in the
group policy settings or any security settings lately?
Or could anyone else have on that computer?

Is it by any chance Vista Business or Vista Ultimate?
If not then such a setting is not even applicable.
