Unable to run windows update

When i try to download new updates from windows update, it would stop at 34%
and few minutes later it would give me error. the error # was 0x80070020. I
need to download service pack 2.

Are you quite sure that your PC is free of all spyware etc?

If you need service pack 2, download the install for IT professionals and
developers from the microsoft site. Boot into safe mode, and install it from
there.

what is the %\windowsUpdate.log? and i'm 100% sure it is free of spyware
since i just reformat and install the new window xp pro.

You receive a "0x80070020 The process cannot access the file because it is
being
used by another process" error message when you try to download an update
from
Windows Update or from Microsoft Update

I am referring to the file WindowsUpdate.log in your Windows directory (such
as c:\windows).
