Computer is a Compaq Presario SR1180UK, operating system is Windows Vista
Home premium. Normally when I open 'My Computer' I can see all drives with
info as to size/name etc, and am able to open any drive by selecting it.
Today, for no reason that I am aware of, When I select 'Computer' no drives
are shown. I am able, I think, to save info to a drive because drive led on
front of comp blinks. I have Norton 360 installed and Tweakvi. Have tried
Windows System Restore but get message 'unable to restore.'
Thanks for advice re personal details - will be careful in future.

I have the same problem. The only thing that shows up is " My Sharing
Folders". C, D, and E are not there. I can access them by typing C:\ in the
address bar they just don't show up under "My Computer"

As far as I remember it was like that from the get-go. It was one of the
first things I noticed to be differant from xp.Vista came installed on a new
laptop I purchased.

Click Start, type CMD and press ENTER.

Type:

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Po licies\Explorer" /v NoDrives

Copy the output and include it in your reply.

Open an Admin Command prompt and then try running the command again. To open an elevated Command Prompt window, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
