id you source the drivers from ASUS or from nVidia? Go to 'Welcome to
NVIDIA - Graphics Cards, Motherboards, Notebooks, Desktop PCs'
(
http://www.nvidia.com) and downloaded the latest GeForce 6 Series
drivers for Vista. That should do the trick.
If it doesn't, you could try finding the INF file for the monitor
itself on Samsungs website, which usually tells Windows what resolutions
the monitor can safely use, and at which refresh rates. I haven't had to
do this for years, as the last time I had this problem was way back when
with Windows 95.
Word of advice? If you need to use patches and compatibility updates to
get a driver to work. DON'T. Because all it means is you have the wrong
driver.
The absolute last thing you want to be doing is mucking about in the
registry, no matter how good the advice is to do so.
