I have services: Auto updates, Background Intelligent Transfer, and systen
event notification running and set to auto. When I go to the CRTL PNL, then
auto updates, the options are ghost out.
What did I disable? I did do a search here and did not find any answers. TIA

Steve,

See this article : Automatic Updates options are greyed out?
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/aupolicy.htm

OR, if you'd like to make the required setting changes using a .reg
file, download " Windows Update Greyed Out - Restore ", Line 179 on this
page : http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Save the .reg file to the Desktop. Double click it and choose Yes to the
prompt to Merge it.
You should get a confirmation message that the settings were
successfully entered.
If not, there may be malware at work preventing the system from
obtaining Critical updates. If that's the case, then seek assistance at
one of these reputable anti-malware forums. Please read the guidelines
of the forum of your choice prior to posting :

Thank you, all i had to do was to change the value from 1 (off) to 0 (on), I
also stop/started the service. The group policy was already set to not
configured.
