Unable to start computer after windows vista update

Hi,

My computer has recently downloaded a windows update for vista and wont
start. When the computer is turned on it goes to the configuring updates
screen, it configures 2 out of 3 updates then restarts. A grey 'windows
failed to start' dialogue box comes up that does a system repair. It the
reboots once the repair has been done and goes to the configuring updates
screen where the same thing happens after 2 of 3 updates. It's been doing
this constantly for hours! Can anyone help me sort this out?

Are you currently running Vista or Vista SP1, Steve? (Just a question, not
a recommendation!)

I am having the same problem....Vista is such a pain in the ass...simple update

I am having the same problem with my wifes computer. What was your solution.
We do not have a startup disk for his system
