Unable to start Speech Recognition tool

Hi,

I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 Laptop, and have had it for about 6 months. Just
today I found the Speech Recognition tool. I went through the tutorial and
everything with no problems. However, when I try to launch the tool itself,
it goes to "sleep" for a second then shows "off" on the screen. When I right
click on it and click on "On", I get a dialog box that says "Please restart
Speech Recognition: Speech Recognition encountered an error. Please restart
Speech Recognition to ensure that you can continue to use Speech
Recognition." I have shut down the program many times, but always get the
dialog box. I have even restarted my computer, and still got the dialog box.
Has anyone had this happen?

You are probably having some problem loading your sound driver. I would try
refreshing that.

You experience problems with sound after you install Windows Vista Service
Pack 1: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948481

I forgot to add that I am using Vista Home Premium (I don't know if that
matters). I have not updated to SP!. How do I refresh the sound driver?
The sound on my computer seems to be working fine for everything else. Could
it be an isolated incident affecting only the Speech Recognition Tool?
