Hi All,

I was using MSN messenger all along until recently after I install the
Paint.Net which uses the latest .Net Framework.

So I uninstalled the Paint.Net, remove the 3.0 Framework.
Messenger is still not working. I can see it running in the task manager.
I tried to uninstall and install again but still getting the same problem.

I see an error in event viewer, not sure if this is related.
The server {F81CD990-910B-4BBF-9CB3-6A77F3D697B3} did not register with DCOM
within the required timeout.

Can anyone help me please!
Right now, I'm using the web version.

Greetings,

What version of MSN Messenger are you trying here?

But yes, the {F81CD990-910B-4BBF-9CB3-6A77F3D697B3} GUID is part of Messenger. What happens
if you keep trying to launch it - do more processes get created?

Hi Jonathan,

This is the latest version. I got it from http://get.live.com/messenger
Here's what I have tried.

1. Uninstall LIVE ( Mail, Messenger, and I believe it's called the Live login)
2. Uninstall 3.0 .NET Framework
3. go to http://get.live.com/messenger/overview and click on the "get it free"
4. restart my windows XP sp3
5. In task manager, I see that the msnmgr.exe is running and it appear on
the task window (bottom right of my screen). I am able to login but the
application will hang after a while.
6. I will then kill it using task manager and restart the msn messenger.
7. In task manager, it will be seen as running but this time it will not be
shown on the task window.

I even tried to run the dll scan to see if there's any corrupted or missing
dll but it seems fine.
