Suddenly I'm unable to sync new calender items from pda to PC. PC to pda
works fine as does emails, tasks etc in either direction. Running activesync
3.8, Outlook 2003 on iPAQ 4150. Error message tells me that Outlook info
being used by another program on PC and sugests that I close this and/or
restart PC. Tried detect and repairing Outlook, deleting partnerships and
reinstalling activesync and outlook. Any advice please? Thanks

Hi,

Are you using any add-ins with Outlook? Also can you provide the exact
error message as it appears.

Thanks for your help. The error message reads:
The following appointment cannot by sychronised because Microsoft outlook
information is being used by another program. Close all other programs on
your desktop computer and synchronise again. If the problem continues,
restart desktop computer

The PsiWin is one add-on but thats been there for years and this problem
only seemed to occur after some Microsoft Office updates in mid March. I've
also tried disabling antivirus/spam software. Other than that I don't know of
any add-ins running on Outlook. My pda still syncs with my work PC OK.

Thanks

Hi,

Have you tried syncing after performing a soft reset? Although I doubt this
will help since the error is being generated by Outlook.

In Outlook -> Click Tools -> Options -> Other tab -> Advanced Options ->
click Add-in Manager and see if it is using any add-in. If it is, uncheck
it and then shut Outlook and open it again and then connect your device and
see if it syncs. This will help isolating if the error is happening because
of the add-in.

I'm afraid I've tried that. It made no difference. I notived last night that
all th items that fail to sync get put in the deleted items folder. Does that
give any clues?

Hi

This is strange, in addition to checking the add-in could you also check for
COM application that might be enabled? In Outlook -> Click Tools ->
Options -> Other tab -> Advanced Options -> click COM add-ins.

Beyond that try running the Scanpst utility to check for any corruption in
the PST file (the file that stores your Outlook data). Search for
scanpst.exe on your computer.
