When I install the following updates:
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (KB834707)
and
814078: Security Update (Microsoft Jscript version 5.6, Windows 98, Windows
Millennium Edition, Windows NT 4.0)
on my computer runnign Windows Me, I prompts me to restart my computer.
When I do this in gives sever lines of :
Unable to update file %1 to %2 and then indicates that the updates have
failed. How do I get this security patches installed?

The update %1 to %2 is happening from within the WININIT.INI that was
created during the update installation so that files could be overwritten
that Windows normally prevents.

Try renaming WININIT.INI to WININIT.BAK and do the update again.

There was no wininit.ini file. There was an wininit.exe, a wininit.bak, and
a wininit.err (the last two with today's date. Tried re-doing the update
but the same results
