unable to update my computer at all.

Hi,
every time i turn my computer on i get a prompt from 'windows udates' that
there are new update for my computer. When i open it up and click 'check for
updates' it searches for awhile and then stops. Nothing changes. I have done
this plenty of times and it says i have NEVER updated my computer.
Can someone help me with this.

Since 12/18/08, My computer has told me there is updates for my computer.
every time i spend the time to download and install the updates....I get
Errors (KB961260/KB960544/KB959772/KB905866/KB960225/KB951847....Then many
More. My question is this, why have a updates that do not update why is
Microsoft not doing thier home work before releasing a product to the Masses?
why does Micrsoft products have these issues. we bought thier products, we
buy thier software and we get punnished by not getting the proper support.
and on top of that we get excuse after excuse on why its our fault. All i ask
is that Microsoft live up to thier end......
