Unable to update phone number

Hi,
For some reason I can't update the phone number that contacts can use to
send me messages to my mobile device. I've gone in to Tools - Options -
Phone and updated all 3 phone fields to be my new numbers. But then, when I
go back and look at the numbers displayed for my contact in IM (I right-click
on me and select call) they are all old phone numbers that I haven't used for
some time. Any ideas?
