Unable to update XP Pro , ERROR 8007F0DA

I am unable to install any updates for XP Pro , it tells me I need to update
Background Intelligent Transfer with KB842773 before I can download any
further XP updates .Every time I try and install KB842773 it fails with Error
8007F0DA .Can anybody help please ? .Thanks ,Ron

I have kindof the same problem. I try to update windows, and it says that I
need to turn on the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS), but it's
already on! I haven't changed anything in my services at all since my last
update. Maybe there's a lil virus creeping around? I am using XP Pro as
well.

Please try this, it might fix your problem:

Go to
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm#C...Service_Pack_2

Look for fixdb.bat under "Error 0x800710D9 Unable to read from
or write to the database". Download and run it.
