Unable to use Update?

When I try a manual update I get the following message:

"Install the ActiveX control required to view the website."

I am running XP SP2 with IE 7 Beta3 and have had NO problems. All of last
weeks updates installed fine without problems. This began suddenly yesterday.

Unfortunately, I HAVE installed the ActiveX control, and none of the
solutions seem to address this type of message where there is no error code.

Any ideas?
