0x8024001D - WU_E_INVALID_UPDATE - an update had bogus metadata
Which antivirus/security suite software / firewall is installed ?
The corruption of the metadata *may* have occurred due to that or the
SoftwareDistribution folder was damaged/corrupted.
Show hidden files, folders, and system files:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...l62.html#winxp
Now go to Start > Run > type in
net stop wuauserv
Click OK
Navigate to WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore
delete the DataStor.edb
Then open the Logs folder and delete all logs
Next, open the Downloads and Event Cache folders and delete all contents
contained therein
Close the window
Go back to Start > Run > type in
net start wuauserv
Click OK
Now try to access Windows Update first, NOT Microsoft Update
If the system has been opted into MU, then please change back to WU for
now by clicking the Change settings link in the left hand frame.
If the above still hasn't corrected the issue suggest stopping the
Automatic Update service once more and then delete ALL of the contents
of the Software Distribution folder.
