Unable to windows update in windows2003 server

Hello there,

My two windows 2003 enterprise server keep failing windows updates recently.
I have tried various alternative to resolve this issue but failed to do so.
Following are the latest update I am trying to update

Security Update for windows server 2003 (KB914388)
Security Update for windows server 2003 (KB917159)
Security Update for windows server 2003 (KB917537)
Windows Malicious Software Reomoval tool- July2006 (KB890838)

Does anyone knows why My server keep failing for above updates ? any help
would be appericiate.

Had only problems with 917537 (on Server 2003 R2)

Solution for 917537:

This worked here, so give it a try :

I had the issue on my WinXP Pro SP2 pc and I created a new blank text
document and renamed it asp.dll and saved it to %windir%\system32\inetsrv.
Within a few minutes Windows automatically recognized the file as corrupt
and extracted a new asp.dll file it appears from
%windir%\LastGood\system32\inetsrv.
I had done a previous search for this file on my hard drive that returned no
results which indicates the file
could have been compressed.

After the new file was extracted I let Windows Update install KB917537 again
and the problem was resolved.

I had problem with

(KB914388)

Also these are in my windows 2003 server.

I have encounter the same problem on our Windows Small Business Server 2003.
By checking Windows Update manually, i receive information about another
update to be installed first (Windows SharePoint Services SP2 - KB887624).
After the installation and a server restart, the other updates worked without
any troubles.
Maybe can this help.

Hello all
I have the same problems with Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition SP1.
How can I get rid of the already downloaded files that will try to install
over and over again ?
Maybe one day we will get better patches for Win2003 ...

Hello all,

After your suggestion I tried again but still fails. No i don´t recieve any
other update except (manual or automatic) the one I listed below. Anyone
please drop resolving technique.

Turn off the Internet Information Service, then you can update this
pack. After update you need a restart.

Turn off the IIS service will also turn off some other related services
if installed, such as: FTP, SMTP, WWW, .... etc.

I tried in one server it seems working but will perform after working hours
