If I approved an update in sus, the update downloaded to the client but did
not install it yet (only scheduled it), then unapproved the update and the
client downloaded the correct new set of updates, will my client still
install the first update that I later unapproved?

Hi,

If an update is downloaded, it will be installed, regardless of
what you do on the SUS server.

Fyi, there is a separate newsgroup for SUS:

microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...wareupdatesvcs

URL to the group softwareupdatesvcs for those who uses the Web
interface to access the newsgroups:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv...wareupdatesvcs

And WSUS questions should be posted to the new newsgroup
microsoft.public.windows.server.update_services

way I can manually prevent that update from being installed at its scheduled
time on the pc?

Hi,

If you can locate the downloaded file(s), I would think one option is
to delete them (I'm not sure where SUS downloads are stored).

Another option:

As long as you are logged in with an user account that have
administrator privileges, you should now see the AU icon in the
notification area. Double click on it and select "Custom Install",
unselect the update in question, and when later on asked, select to
never show the update again.
