I'm getting this problem periodically on my Vista Home Premium, my windows
update does not seem to always work. Quite often I get this error when
starting windows up. It gives me a choice to learn more online, and nothing
else. Learn more online takes me to windows genuine check, which cannot be
done at that time, in which case power switch helps.

However, I have already validated my windows, and there should be no
problems related to that. After the cold-boot, I can go to genuine advantage,
and Vista validates.

Why would this occur? Just recently windows suggested that I may be victim
of software counterfeit.

regards,
Jussi

Suggest cleaning up the system (clearing out all the Temp/Tmp folders, and
included all offline content, clearing the browser TIF, Delete Cookies , do a
Disk CleanUp.

Click the Start button . In the Search box, type Disk Cleanup, and then, in
the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.

Reboot

Run diagnose test,
<http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/>

Reboot

Can you go to Windows Update, select Express (Get high-priority updates),
and apply all offered updates
<http://www.update.microsoft.com>

Once that is finished, can you verify the update installs? There are many
pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update, will fail until you
have these f!les.

Some new ActiveX software has to be installed on your computer can be scanned.

Just follow the prompts to do so, but it should then list and download the
same updates, and install them, as those you see in the taskbar notificatiºn.

If going to the site is successful, keep going back until there are no more
critical updates to install.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut

I get the same exact thing. AND I clean my temp files, etc., regularly. The
reboot always fixes it. WHAT's GOING ON??? RThis happenens intermitently.
Could it be linked to SP1??
