Hi,

I'm running Vista Home Premium. I recently have been getting a message
on screen that Windows is blocking some startup programs. I followed the
help instructions, and got lost in Windows Defender. I am the
Administrator and sole user of this laptop.

How can I unblock the blocked programs?

Thanks a lot.

Morton

Hi Rick,

The mystery deepens. I did Defender-Tools-Quarantined Items, and there
was no list; the area was blank.

So, Windows is blocking some Startup programs somewhere else. How do I
find out, and unblock them?

I found out it doesn't seem to matter that you are administrator - Vista
won't give you admin rights - The easy solution is to give your user name
'full control' of Program files folder & Program Data folder - or switch off
UAC

Hi Rick,

Yes, I did that, and no programs are disabled. Every listed program has
its box checked. It's a Bill gates puzzle.

Thanks again.

Hi Jethro,

Thanks for the helpful suggestion. The entire business of Microsoft as
Big Brother bothers me, but I've been warned by friends not to turn off
the UAC.

Regards,

Morton
