Thanks Steve--you are a complete genius! I was blaming Mail when it appears
it's actually my mouse. If I used the touch pad (it is a laptop) with the
batteries out of the mouse, things work fine. If the mouse is on and I click
on something, it's off to the races.
A new mouse appears to be in order.
And I apologize to Vista and Windows Mail for wrongly blaming them...
