unexpected bluescreen

Computer freezes while i'm in the middle of something, the mouse pointer will
get "stuck" for 3-4 seconds, then the screen goes black (but the power is
still on). I get no message, and nothing works except for holding down the
power button to turn off the pc. When I restart there is no record of any
problem in the problem history. The pc has done this ever since it was new.

Can anyone help me?

Take it back. Since it's done this since you got it, you've got some sort of
hardware issue, quite possibly bad RAM.

The company you bought it from???

If you've let this continue to happen without contacting that company,
you deserve what you get. You should have jumped in their sh** as
soon as you realized it was a problem.

HI,

The trouble is that I bought the pc in the uk, and live in Norway, and the
guarantee is only valid in uk! Is there anyway I can diagnose and fix the
problem??

As Malke theorises, it could well be a memory issue, start by testing
the RAM with memtest86
http://www.memtest86.org

You can test the memory yourself. I believe that Vista has a memory tester,
but I like Memtest86+ from www.memtest.org. Obviously, you have to get the
program from a working machine. You will download the .iso to make a
bootable cd. Burn the file with third-party burning software - as an image,
not as data. Then boot with the media you made (you may need to change the
boot priority in your BIOS so that the optical drive is the first boot
device). The test will run immediately. Let the test run for an hour or two
- unless errors are seen immediately. If you get any errors, replace the
RAM.

Of course, other components could be bad. I understand your difficulties,
but I very much doubt that the warranty is only good in the UK. I think
contacting the seller might be the way to go. If it is at all possible, you
should return the machine for credit and buy a laptop from a company from
whom you'll be able to get tech support. This is extremely important when
dealing with a laptop because, except for the RAM and hard drive, you need
to go back to the laptop mftr. for support of all other hardware components
since laptop hardware is proprietary.

The link is broken.I guess using Windows Vista's own memory tester built
into the installation media will help.

The link isn't broken; it's wrong. It should be http://www.memtest.org
