How uninstall KB890923 on Win98

since installing KB890923 on Win 98 I have had numerous problems with
computer. I would like to uninstall and then reinstall but it does not show
in my Control Panel/Add/remove programs. How can I uninstall this?

The issue may be that the update never installed properly. If you
downloaded and installed the update while at the Windows Update site,
open iuhist.xml (it will open in Internet Explorer). It is located in
C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate\V4.
( If you manually downloaded the updated and saved it from the Windows
Update Catalog then it will not be in the iuhist.xml file. )
Then either click File, Find and enter BB890923, then click OK to locate
it or scroll down the list of the installed/fail to install updates.

To see if it's listed as installed in the Registry go to Start, Run,
type in
regedit
Click OK
Navigate to this key :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed
Components\{04d6265d-6b5d-41c3-9e7c-48be15919643}
Click on the {04d6265d-6b5d-41c3-9e7c-48be15919643} folder and, in the
right pane, it should show KB890923 as being installed like this :
IsInstalled 0x00000001 (1)

Unfortunately, MS does not include a list of files for this update for
Win 98. If you find that the update has not installed properly, suggest
you download it from the Windows Update Catalog :

Save it to the Hard Drive. Close IE, then either boot to Safe Mode to
install it or, temporarily disable the installed Antivirus program while
in normal Windows mode and then install it.
REMEMBER, if you choose to temp disable the installed AV, reenable it
after the update installs.

I did install from the Windows update site. I located update in the
iuhist.xml file as you suggested and it shows install status value "complete"
needs Reboot="1"/v.
I did check the Registry as you further suggested and it did show in the
IsInstalled 0x00000001 (1)
I double checked again in my add/remove and KB890923 is still not showing.
When I check Help About Internet Explorer it shows KB890923 following by
Q891781. I originally installed KB890923 Apr 13 and KB891781 on Apr 18. After
computer problems I was thinking I should have first installed KB891781 and
then KB890923. I am having problems with Internet Explorer and Outlook
Express not closing properly and messages of memory extremely low. These
problems all occured immediately after these 2 updates.
As everything shows 890923 properly installed, why does it not show in my
Add/Remove Programs??? Should I manually download KB890923 from the Update
Catalog??
