Uninstall Windows Defender

Have just bought Vista Home Premium and I wish to uninstall Windows Defender
but it doesn't appear in the programme uninstall list, anyone know how I get
rid of it please? The settings in the programme do not allow me to make any
personal changes either so it's becoming a nuisance.

Very helpful, many thanks. Hmmmm, after getting to grips OK with XP, looks
like there's a lot to learn all over again with Vista!!
