I am using Windows Live Mail as a newsreader and Outlook for email. I'd like
to get rid of Windows Mail since I don't use it and its just taking up disk
space. It doesn't show up in the Uninstall Programs control panel. How do I
get rid of it?

You can't, it's part of the Vista OS.

You should be able to: it's an application, not part of an OS.

More generally, M$ seem to have adopted the silly notion that you can't use
your computer if you're not on line with a fast connection.

***Yes, you should be able to but you can't because it IS part of the OS.

That's true "You should be able to" but MS has placed hooks in it that
tightly coupled it to the OS. Best to just delete the shortcut to it and
just let it lay dormant.

Maybe after the EU levies another fine on Microsoft, you'll be able to
remove Mail from Vista? Seems like Microsoft constantly needs encouragement
to make their "operating systems" user friendly. :-)

Cheers.

You're confused! Canada is not in the EU...LOL!

What does that have to do with a lying linux troll like you? Are you
broke and can't afford Vista? Why are you here? Is your hatred that
deep? Did MS fire your stupid incompetent ass and this is your only way
of getting aback at them? Are you really that sick???

Don't be silly. Just because it is hard to remove that does not make it
'part of the OS'. It's just a bundled app. The OS works perfectly fine
without it.

IE4 to IE6 was part of the OS.

The amount of disk space it uses is so little, it's not really worth getting
rid of it, but if you really want to go through all that bother, you can
make a fresh installation using vLite.

Make no mistake: The EU decisions and other anti-competitive actions against
Microsoft are not motivated by users.

They are ALL instigated by competitors.

Non-government monopolies are almost always good, especially in durable
goods (such as software). The only way a monopoly can get more money out of
a consumer is by improving its product.

Where the consumer loses occurs when governments get involved in regulating
monopolies.
