Hello!
I need to uninstall active sync manually (registry?) because the drive I
installed it to is no more accessable.
I tried to install a new version but installation stops all the time because
it finds the original installation but can´t uninstall it.

Thanks
Joe

Why did you try and install a new version? Does it do extra things that
you need?

If not why not try and reinstall the older version.

You have not stated just what you have done so it is hard to give
specific advice, you haven't even said which OS you use.

Run your disk checking utility before attempting any fixes, if there
are disk errors you can make things worse. scandiskw is the windows
utility. You may have corrupted the registry with what you have
attempted to date so make sure the registry does not have corrupt
entries by running a third party application or the included Windows
one before doing anything. (scanreg)
..
That is what you should do first *before anything else*, then uninstall
the program the proper way through the Control Panel if needed.

But I'd really be interested in knowing why you are updating, and what
are the extra things the new version will do for you?

If you decide to/need to manually clean the registry take care- you can
cause serious problems and even stop your machine from working.
If you have Norton Utilities it has a registry editor, or use the
editor that is included with windows.

**Back the registry up before editing as you can seriously damage it if
you are not careful, even stopping Windows from starting**.

Uninstall activesync as best you can normally using add/remove programs
in the control panel first. Then start your chosen registry editor,
search for all terms to do with the activesync installation and delete
them (there are many), be careful not to delete anything else. Once you
have deleted ALL references reboot the computer and try an install. If
it fails you have probably missed some entries- uninstall and try
again.
