Uninstalling drivers permanently

I have Vista Ultimate on a Toshiba Media Centre laptop. There is a
problem with some keystrokes routed via DirectX not reaching an
application I use. Several IR keyboard drivers are installed and it
one of these, Microsoft eHome MCIR 109 Keyboard, blocking the key
presses. Uninstall it and the problem goes away. And there is the
catch, it does not stay uninstalled, it comes back again on a roboot.
There is no later version.

Does anyone know how to get rid of drivers permanently.

You'll have to locate the specific driver file(s) and remove it(them) from
the system. Also, ensure that it's not a protected system file that's
replaced by the OS automatically (such as those in the dllcache folder).

I never did find what I would need to delete.

Following on from another post about driver problems I deleted the
INFCACHE file. I can now uninstal the offending keyboard driver and it
stays uninstalled. Plus the rest of the computer is still working.

Google shows there is a problem with this file getting corrupted. There
is a second VISTA problem in that VISTA does not regenerate the file.

There is a hotfix for the regeneration failure which may appear as a
public release at some point.
