Uninstalling MSN Messenger 5.0

I have an older computer which I am trying to make last a bit longer by
freeing up as much space as I can. The computer came with MSN Messenger 5.0
already installed and I have never used it. I have read all the previous
postings on this question, but I am still uncertain if I can safely
uninstall this program using the "Add and Remove" procedure. My concern is
that it may somehow be required to the running of other programs such as
Outlook Express, Remote Assistance or some other program. I am running
Windows XP, Outlook Express 6.0 and Internet Explorer 7.0.

Is it safe for me to uninstall this program? I appreciate any help anyone
can provide and hope that this posting is proper as I have never posted
before.

Yes, MSN Messenger 5.0 can be removed without any problem.

It was Windows Messenger 4.x in the past caused turmoil in other applications by removing it.
Luckily this has been rectified in updates many years ago and really isn't an issue today.
