Uninstalling WinXP-Lost Product Key

Can someone help me?? A friend of mine installed WinXP Home,on my computer
for me. My month was up 12/12/04. I now have an O.S. that I can't do anything
with,for the key is lost.I bought WinXP last night, so my problem is how do I
get the old XP off(uninstalled) & the new one on so this version will be
Activated & Registered.I can only get on line by trying to register my No
Good version. I have no Start button.taskbar.nothing!! I need someone with
alot more computer knowledge than I have,so I don't mess up my O.S.(old or
new),tear up my PC, uninstall & install everything the right way. PLEASE
HELP!!!!!
