One message keeps coming up with "unknown error" and that you can't delete
the message. I see dozens of people have the problem. What can you do to
get rid of the stupid problem?

There is no official fix.
Best solution is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

If you are not happy with WM, Microsoft has offered you WLM as a free replacement.

I followed someone's instructions to delete and reenter your email account.
The stuck message stays in your outbox forever, but everything else can go
out. Every time you send an email it asks you about the old outgoing message
telling you that it doesn't have a something or other and you just say "No"
and ignore it. This solution worked for me and it took a couple of minutes
to do. I tried a whole bunch of the techy solutions on here and none worked
and some were way over my head. Thanks for the tip from someone out there!

Hi,

If you do not want to switch to Windows Live Mail Beta right now, you
can get rid of the stuck message by following the instructions at this
link. I would recommend the "To Reset Windows Mail" for the cleanest
method.

But you know as well as I do that it's a crock.

I disagree. I've used it from day one without a single glitch.

No, I don't know that, or I would not be recommending it.
I recommend WLM because I've been using it exclusively since May 31,
with far less aggravations than when I was using WM.
