I've had no problem with either of them.

Hi Nigel,

I have used both "Windows Mail" and now "Windows Live Mail Beta
without any problems from either one on x64 Vista Home Premium. Excep
"Windows Live Mail Beta" will not play a sound for new email, but tha
is trivial. The only reason I switched is for website email support.

Most of the problems for Windows Mail is caused by 3rd party program
that are not fully compatible with Vista and thus corrupt Windows Mail.
Example: Norton & McAfee antivirus, and some programs like Spyblaste
that fill up the restricted sites list.

So you now *like* the multiple folders? The whole concept is flawed,
and it seems that MSFT are not going to do anything about it.

No, I still don't like the multiple folders in WLM.
But on the whole, I prefer WLM at this time.
WM is just too buggy and unstable.
If WM ever gets its bugs fixed, I may go back to it.

I just got a new computer loaded with Vista the other day. Finally imported
by old e-mail folders and and started getting some really strange
results.....for example, couldn't move messages between folders, inbox
contents wouldn't appear. I disabled Macfee and evrythign appears to be
working again. I've re-enabled Macafee and we'll see what happens.

The experience of this group would suggest
that would be asking for trouble.

Hi Eini

Make sure your antivirus program has all of it's email scanning option
turned off. This is a redundant feature that can corrupt Windows Mail
Plus, you will still be protected by your antivirus's real-time residen
monitoring protection. Norton and "McAfee" seem to be the wors
offenders with Windows Mail problems even with email scanning off, whil
Avast or AVG has not had any problems reported so far

The collective wisdom of this newsgroup indicates that even a 'disabled'
McAfee can cause problems with Windows Mail.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
should be uninstalled.
