Unnecessary update notifications

Hi,

I uninstalled MS Outlook ages ago. Why do I still get messages about updates
for this program when I run Windows update. I assumed that you only recieve
updates for software that is actually installed on your machine.

I know that I can hide the notifications. Is there anyway I stop Windows
update giving me new notifications about patches for this program?
